    Will BT increase prices soon?

Wondering if there's been any talks of this? If so, I'll be able to cancel my contract with them if they do and join Sky.

    Thanks

Normally once a year. As above, it happened in Jan, so not likely to happen again this year...

if the price is increased during a fixed contract you have 30 days to be able to leave penalty free.

Within 30 days of being notified of the price increase, contact your … Within 30 days of being notified of the price increase, contact your provider by phone, letter, or email and tell them you want to cancel. Sales people might try and get you to stay - which can be useful if they offer you a genuinely better deal, but stick to your guns if you know you definitely want to leave. Remember that you can probably get aneven betterdeal with an introductory offer from a different provider.Quote the price increase as your reason for leaving, and ensure that you won't get penalised for doing so. Then get a confirmation date for when the final payment will be taken.

What's the penalty going to be leaving and any savings made by joining sky

Maybe because their mobile prices haven't increased in years, otherwise people would make a profit on handsets, during the last price rise, customers who left due to the broadband prise rise, still kept the discount on the mobile.
