Nope. Blame smartphones.

Beginning of next month there's an expected 40% drop due to new mass production factories starting up in thailand.

It'll likely increase again when May invokes Article 50, which will probably knock the £ down even further. Prices won't get meaningfully better for about another year, until factories have successfully transitioned to the 14nm process and reached full manufacturing capacity with it.

DDR Memory, MicroSD cards, SSD drives - all shot up in price due to the memory shortage.

Sorry it was a daft early april fools joke
Unfortunately you just need grab cheap ram until the factories swap to the new standard. Low speed DDR4 2x4GB is around £50-60. This has happened every RAM update I can remember EDO/SDram/DDR1/DDR2/DDR3/DDR4.
Upgrade once prices start to decrease to acceptable levels.
