Will I get charged texting someone abroad who has a UK SIM?

Found 6th Dec 2011
I've tried to google the answer and searched on here first but can't seem to find a definitive answer. My friend has just text me from Goa and I want to text them back, however not sure if texts will come out of my inclusive allowance. I have 3000 texts on a Virgin Media 12 month Sim only plan. I've tried to read their charges on their website but I can't seem to find that scenario. Any help would be great, thanks.

send a text and you will soon find out, when i was abroad with a uk sim then people in the uk did not get charged but it maybe country dependant

No. If you are a UK phone user texting a regular UK mobile then there is no charge regardless of where they are in the world. Likewise no charge to receive the text when abroad. The only cost is if using a UK phone to text a non-UK number or using a UK phone abroad to send a text.

I wasn't charged when I was sending texts while abroad, and I don't have any kind of fancy 'worldwide texts' package. Assumed it was standard that it was inclusive both directions?

My friend is currently in tenerife, i know its charging them to ring & text me but ive also been doing the same whilst iam back in the uk, will this charge me or will it come off my monthly allowance from 3? Iam really confused as my 3 app is telling me i havnt had any recent spends outside my allowance? HELP

It'll cost them to receive your call but not to receive your texts.
It won't cost you anything other than it would if they were in the UK.

T mobile say it costs 18p.would love a definitive answer.
