Hello everyone,

Ive just done my xmas food and booze shop and have absolutely no room in my fridge for beer. Do you think it will be ok kept in the garden? Looks like the lowest night temp here will be -4 over the next few days.

Thanks for your help

better off putting it in your garage, if you have one.

if there's no other option i guess you could wrap it up in something to keep it a little bit warmer (over freezing temperature). Definitely don't want frozen and thawed out beer on Christmas day!!

It'll freeze. Anything over 30% alcohol is usually fine.

I'm amazed by this thread.

It should be fine, I always keep mine in the garden or in the garden shed along with the extra spirits the spirits won't freeze, I'm not too sure about the beer though but mine hasn't froze yet haha!

I like beer.

let me know your address I will come round and keep an eye on it for you!!!!!!

Well put it this way - i open the door every morning to collect my bottles of milk and they are chilled perfectly. (he delivers about 2am)

Best place i find is in the garage or the boot of the car.....

Have you tried your beer yet since keeping it in the garden? Ive just done a google search as well and someone seems to think freezing temp of normal strength beer is -7c. I think i might try keeping the boxes wrapped up in a blanket in the garden. I dont want to keep it in the house because i no i will forget to chill it otherwise and theres nothing worse than warm beer. Out of interest has anyone ever tried thawed out beer? Im guessing it would go flat which isnt good either

Cool, thanks mate. Icy cold beer suits me

It will be fine as long as you plant it 6mm deep and 10mm apart.

P.S. Sprinkle some multi purpose compost over the top.

^ Several years? You are only 23.....

Easy to ensure the temp stays above Freezing by keeping it slightly sheltered against the house and covered. Being doing it for years just putting a couple of boxes under a bench against the house wall and leaving it covered with tarp of something.
