    Hints

    * Depending on the data type, some files may not be playable or some control panel options may not function during playback.
    * Some video files distributed over the Internet have playback restrictions. For details, contact the content provider.
    * To play WMV format files, you must go to (Settings) > (System Settings) and set [Enable WMA Playback].
    * When using a USB adaptor to play video files, you may need to use a USB adaptor (not included) that supports copyright-protection features (to play copyright-protected files).
    * When using a USB adaptor to play AVCHD-format video files saved on Memory Stick™ media, use a device that supports Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0).
    * WMV format copyright-protected files cannot be played.

Depending on your ps3 you can install linux and use that to play any video file.

Plays 90% of avis fine... only a few of mine dont play, but i think thats more down to audio encoding rather than video.

    Grand

Got a USB stick with a couple of AVI's on. Normally play with Windows Media Player, but want to stick them on the PS3

all my avi's have played so far, have not foudn one yet that does not play

Yes, it will - its even better if you use it as a media centre with something like TVersity or PS3 Media Centre. You can play pretty much anything (VOB, MKV, AVI e.t.c)

(you would need a desktop / laptop connected to your local network for this!)

Never had a problem playing mine - i find it easier to play via PS3 Media Centre, but if plugging in a USB stick you may need to go to display all in videos - using the triangle to see the movies - I've had to do that a couple of times.

PS3 Streamer is awsome! just picks up all the media files of you pc and streams then accross your network in perfect quality!
