Win a holiday to the Caribbean and a luxury fragrance hamper THE WHERE ARE YOU? TRAVEL COMPETITION: NOVEMBER 2016 @ Conde Nast Traveller

With the drifting waves and ice-cream-soft sand of Grand Anse Beach just outside, the Spice Island Beach Resort on Grenada is a much-loved favourite for kicking back and soaking up the Caribbean lifestyle. Hammocks and canopied beds await those who prefer to take in the view from a horizontal position, while the sleek Janissa's Spa plucks local herbs, nutmeg and seaweed for its treatments. Head to Oliver's Restaurant for Creole specialities such as cane-smoked marlin, and the terrace for cocktails and Friday-night barbecues, set to a pulsing steel-band soundtrack.

The prize is for seven nights at this five-star hotel with Carrier, for two adults sharing on an all-inclusive basis, with flights from London Gatwick and transfers in Granada. The winner will also receive a luxurious fragrance hamper from Molton Brown, which includes Coco & Sandalwood bath
and shower gel, a body lotion, a three-wick candle, Aroma-Reed diffusers and a Home & Linen Mist.

Like a wisp of smoke from a genie bottle, the mouth of this 100km- long river snakes mysteriously across the inky-blue landscape. With sheer cliffs, tumbling rapids and craggy, snow-capped peaks, this is a raw, dramatic place where active volcanoes rumble away under the ice caps. Days after global aviation routes were brought to a grinding halt due to the sudden eruption of a famously tricky-topronounce volcano nearby, the river flooded its banks when water and ice from melting glaciers filled it to capacity. As well as carrying millions of tons of sediment and sand down to the lowlands and out to sea, this south-flowing waterway has carved out a 200-metre-deep gorge along its route. The gaping green canyon is a popular stop for hikers along a 55km trek known as ‘hot spring road’. Where are you?

Identify the location described.

MY ANSWER: Mouth of the Markarfljót River, Myrdalsjökull region, Iceland

Description: Mouth of the Markarfljót River, Myrdalsjökull region, Iceland.

Fed by the Myrdalsjökull, a 308-square-mile (800-square-kilometer) dome of ice in the southwest of the island, the Markarfljót River flows round the northern edge of the small Eyjafjallajökull Glacier, tracing a hesitant course over a broad bed of basaltic sediments before ending its journey on a beach of black sand on the Atlantic shore. Like all glacial rivers, the Markarfljót spreads out over a plain from which glaciers have receded, forming a dense, intricate network of channels.

Markarfljót is a river in the south of Iceland. It is approximately 100 kilometers long.

The 55km hike traverses approximately north-south from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk along the Laugavegurinn. Translated from Icelandic, Laugavegurinn means, The Hot Spring Route.

Found out it's their update. If you go to hotukdeals.com on the 'hot' tab it isn't deals anymore it includes anything and everything. Need to work out how to filter it out so I just see deals.

Cheers marba
