The winner and guest will stay for two nights, on a B&B basis, at the Idle Rocks, a relaxed but luxurious Relais & Châteaux hotel in St Mawes, Cornwall. St Mawes is one of the county’s prettiest harbour villages and The Idle Rocks has a grandstand view, right on the waterfront.
The hotel has 19 bedrooms. Each is bright and airy, and most have a sea view. Downstairs, there’s a terrace for cocktails and dinner throughout the summer, while a fire crackles in the lounge in colder months.
The big news this year has been arrival of new head chef, Dorian Janmaat, from Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. Seasonality and sustainability are at the heart of his cooking, and all meat, fish and dairy come from Cornwall, his home county. One dinner for two (excluding wine) from his signature menu is included in the prize, which must be taken by September 30, 2021, subject to availability and excluding bank holidays, July and August.
