The Kennel Club recognises 211 breeds of dog, almost all of which will be at Discover Dogs which will take place at London’s Earl Court on 9th and 10th November 2013.

Discover Dogs has been running for 18 years and is a unique chance to meet more than 200 breeds of dog and to learn about their different characteristics and needs. It is also a chance to watch fun displays, competitions and to buy all manner of dog related products.

There are 27 native breeds that the Kennel Club deems as vulnerable and at risk of extinction because they number less than 300 puppy registration each year, including the Otterhound and the Sussex Spaniel. There are a further seven breeds ‘at watch’ and on the brink of becoming vulnerable including the Old English Sheepdog. Did you know that the Labrador retriever is the most popular breed both in the UK and the greyhound is the fastest dog on earth and 18th fastest mammal and can run at speeds of up to 45mph.

Young dog lovers will be showing visitors how to train, groom and play with dogs at the dedicated ring for the Young Kennel Club. There will also be a reading corner for young visitors to read to dogs, following the success of the Bark & Read Foundation reading corner at Discover Dogs 2011. The Bark & Read Foundation supports charities bringing dogs into schools to help children learn to read. Discover Dogs also hosts the Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the year competition sponsored by James Wellbeloved.

Discover Dogs will take place at Earls Court on 9th and 10th November 2013. Tickets are available from August. Children under 12 go free, making it a great day out for all the family.
