The bus has been converted into a luxurious space for you and up to five guests to sleep, eat, wash and hang out in, all in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Only 40 minutes away from Brighton, and close to the chocolate box town of Lewes, is a wood where this 1982 west midlands metro bus resides. With views across the fields, where ponies frequently roam, and to the wood behind you, you’ll find this the perfect, unusual retreat from daily life.
Inside the bus you’ll find a beautiful kitchen/living room with a log burner for keeping warm on winter nights. Upstairs you’ll find two double bedrooms and a bunk bed at the back of the bus. There’s seating for two at the front of the bus, so you can enjoy the sunset from this unique vantage point and just outside the bus is a toilet and wet room. There is also plenty of sitting outside, and a fire pit with all the ingredients you need to cook up The Big Green Bus famous chilli on the fire pit available for order, as well as a full breakfast, wine, cider or an array of special treats. For an additional cost you can book the use of a wood fired hot tub for the duration of your stay.
Locally, there is a good pub within walking distance, as well as Glynde, where the world famous Glyndebourne opera house is located, as well as Lewes which holds a Farmers Market every Saturday, and of course the well-known, vibrant city of Brighton on the coast.
And if you’re thinking, where do I know that bus? The conversion of the bus from the scrapheap to the beautiful, holiday home you see today was documented in the Channel 4 programme George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, yes this bus is just a little bit famous, as well as being a seriously exciting place to stay!
