PERIOD: OnceWith its stunning views across Windermere, Storrs Hall on the lake is the perfect treat for discerning foodies who want a luxury escape this spring.
This historic country hotel has it all, from the newly converted Boathouse, the ultimate couples’ hideaway – where the winners will be staying – to spacious rooms and suites.
The Boathouse is tucked away on the lake shore, with a private terrace, hot tub and lily pond. Its luxurious interior, with a giant bed, cosy sofas and a freestanding bath, includes the latest technology, such as sound and light controls, and a shower that becomes a steam room for the ultimate in relaxation.
Most of the hotel’s bedrooms have views across the lake and all have been individually designed with features such as walk-in showers, Italian marble and Aquavision televisions in their contemporary bathrooms.
The food at Storrs Hall is something special, too. On arrival, you will enjoy a delicious afternoon tea – perhaps on your terrace or the lawns leading down to the lake.
Every morning, you will be treated to a leisurely breakfast and, on one evening, you will indulge in an impressive Tasting Menu, with wine pairings, from the award-winning head chef. Watching night fall across the lake from the huge drawing-room window is an experience in itself – enjoy it, along with your late check out at 1pm the following day.
Even if you’re not staying at Storrs Hall, it’s the perfect place to meet up over lunch or for a family celebration. And there are also family-friendly lodges tucked away in the woods, where dogs are welcome. Visitors can cook for themselves, or take advantage of all the dining and guest services that the main hotel has to offer.
