A hemisphere is half a sphere ( an orange is a sphere -ball shape) so a hemisphere is like an orange cut in half (the place where you cut it would be called the Equator).
If you were a rugby follower you would know that we are always in the shadow of Southern Hemisphere teams (South of the Equator - mainly Australia and New Zealand, but not just limited to them)
When you pull the plug out of your bath or sink here in England (we are North Of the Equator ie Northern Hemisphere) the water spins round in an anti-clockwise direction (imagine an old fashioned clock, -anticlockwise is the same as the hands going backward)
In Australia when you pull the plug out, the water spins in a clockwise direction as it goes down the plughole (the same direction the hands move on a clock)
Thats why crd67 said look in a sink.

So its anticlockwise?

thanks

It goes any way you want it to. Really. The hemisphere / plughole discussion is a myth that's been 'busted' many times.

For one example, see Your text here but there's plenty more.
