The biggest ever multi-sports event hosted by Scotland opens in Glasgow, as the twentieth Commonwealth Games gets underway. Royal Mail’s latest stamps put the spotlight on six of the sports in which the world’s athletes hope to triumph

The stamps in the Commonwealth Games issue feature six of the seventeen sports in which athletes will compete for medals: judo, swimming, marathon, squash, netball and para-sport track cycling. The stamps are the work of Dutch illustrator Nanette Hoogslag who has used images created by sports photographer Andy Hooper to celebrate the skill and energy displayed by Commonwealth athletes.
