I did not know that a 7 Professional key would not work on Home Edition.

Microsoft stopped Windows 7 retail and upgrade version sales some years ago so if you don't want to or can't go for a current version instead then the legitimate way is to buy a second hand retail (boxed) version, although there are unfortunately a huge number of dodgy sellers around.
