what one?

vista rocks, I have had it since launch and would never go back.

I have NEVER had a blue screen error, and my pc is on every day for at least 5 hours.

It has never crashed, xp was way too slow for me. Vista gets better with age, like a good malt. . .

Vista is horrible so I can see where you're coming from OP.

If only for the fact that Vista is far slower at writing to fat32 removable drives, documented - that's enough for me.

Vista rules, Blue screen error could be one of a number of things, I've had them in the past, Usually graphics driver or something, Could be dodgy hardware.

Vista has been great for me without any real problems to date, I was forever re-installing XP due to slowdowns.

I wouldn't blame Vista for the blue screen error, Could be anything causing it. Check the error code, Sometimes it'll tell you that it failed to start because a xxx.dll failed or something, Google it

For once, I agree with everything you say. Vista is superb compared to older versions.

I think theirs an option somewhere, You can request it not to restart after crashing, Think you press delete or an F11 or similar when booting up, Can't remember how I did it.

P.S. Try unplugging any USB device connected, Someone I know has a laptop which when he starts Vista up with an external hard drive he gets the blue screen of death.

What are the specs of your PC running Vista? Anything with less than 1GB ram is going to struggle and more likely to give you the blue screen of death, Especially if it's running Vista Ultimate.

Minimum spec for Vista should be 1GB anything less than that is going to really struggle especially if sharing onboard graphics etc...

its got 4gb ram im sure

320gb hard drive

do you think i need new parts for it?

and no pc ever has had a blue screen of death that runs xp.

Sounds more likely as others have pointed out that you've a hardware problem but hey google vista and listen to all the daft scare stories from the luddites who still run windows 98 and have a 72 year old printer that runs on inks made from berries.

if you cannot even get vista to install then its 95% a harsware problem imho. I trust you did a full format before trying to reinstall vista?

Mine is on 24-7-365 and has never once crashed. Xp Pro used to crash on a near daily basis!

I've never tried Windows Vitsa, but I haven't had many problems with Vista.

There's an easy way to determine if it's vista or not - run another operating system on the same PC. A Linux LiveCD would do (Ubuntu does one) and if that shows problems as well you know it's something wrong with the hardware rather than the OS.

But if it's crashing during install then I'd agree with the others that there's a very good chance that it is the hardware rather than vista.
