if your pc's still in warranty then you should be able to request a disc from your pc's manufacturer free of charge

I got the PC from TINY who dont exist anymore! And i was just over a year anyway so would be out of warranty. They didnt supply Windows dscs, only recovery discs for £40 extra.

the recovery disks will include an option to wipe the hard drive and reinstall from scratch. If they do not, then contact windows direct for replacement disks, they will require you to access the computer for the particular installation serial number

i was naughty and downloade a Uni copy of XP. Lets me install it and i can update is just as if i went out and got it from somewhere.

    *slaps hand*

On the side of you PC you should have your Product Key.

If you are able to get hold of the version from a friend, torrent download etc just enter your Product Key and will save you the trouble, cost etc of geting new install disc.

    Once installed just activate it.

sure I have a copy you can have mate, you'll just need your product key. If there is not a sticker on your pc with it on, search google for a xp key viewer to retrieve it yourself.

this one will probably do it downloads.cnet.co.uk/0,3…htm

If I was in your position I'd go Linux. If you really want to stick with XP then take up wolfee's offer, or get the product key using the suggested software from wolfee, and as dsmuk says - download a copy of XP via bittorrent, or emule. Then install it, enter your original product key and you've saved yourself around 100 quid.

That would be my Hot UK Deal of the day!:)

There is no way i'd buy another copy of XP after i'd already paid for it. That's just wrong.

Theres a college Torrent file which skips all the product key stuff. it lets u install all the updates and stuff as normal.

saves alot of cash and its as good as if u paid for it.
