I think you need to go to Control Panel>Regional and Language>Advanced
then change the language in the drop down box to English.

Give that a try.

hi yes i've already tried all that but nothing changes thanks

do you not chose to remove the italian language, and it will say it will be removed next time you restart your computer  bben a while since i've had to change the language on mine

I would have thought you select it when installing the OS, not afterwards. The files would be huge to be able to just change over at the flick of an option afterwards.

i tend to agree  cant remember if you can delete it 1st or after you add one ?

1st do this to add a language

Windows XP Setup:

1. From the Start Menu
2. Click on 'Control Panel'.
3. Double Click on the "Regional and Language Options" control panel.
4. On the top there are three tabs. Click on "Languages"
5. Click on the "Details" button.
6. In the frame that says "Installed Services" click on the "Add" button. The "Add Input Language" dialog box pops up.
7. Scroll down the language menu until you see the language of your choice and click. Then click 'OK'.

just thought all these directions are in english lol

Well managed to change a dutch version of vista to english fairly easily,is XP so different?

oops seemed to have double posted

i've tried eveything in the laguange section and nothing changes ,is it possible to reboot the system so it's like when i bought it turning it on for the 1st time or will i lose everything as there is no disk plus can't do backup recovery as no disk drive ,just thought i'd check all the language settings before xp comes on i did select english for the langauge then ?

XP can not be changed to another language, without buying the Windows XP Language Interface Pack. And even if you buy that, it may not do what you are asking for, as it is designed to overlay foreign languages onto an English Windows (if memory serves me right).

If you supply proof that you own a license for Windows XP Home/Pro I can post you a CD that will allow you to install a fresh English Windows (it will use the license key from the back of your computer, so be a legal installation).

sorry but i guess i wasnt right , well i was for the keyboard input lol but it seems that this is the right answer ,

cant you borrow someone else's cd and use your own key ?

Depends on the individual install CD.

Older retail CDs (pre SP2) will reject the OEM key and OEM CDs (the ones that don't ask for a key), will usually fail to complete the install (ie: a HP branded OEM install CD will only work on a HP/Compaq computer).

It should work fine, also the license for Windows Vista Retail Upgrade/Full version only allows you to install it on one computer at any one time.

The easiest way is to load Windows would be to borrow a USB DVD drive from someone. ]Alternatively here is a guide on loading Vista from a USB drive.
