Windows XP to be retired in 2008

Found 13th Apr 2007
Windows XP will stop being available on new PCs from the end of January 2008.

Microsoft is keeping to a plan to stop selling the operating system even though surveys show a lukewarm response to Windows Vista among consumers. A poll by US market research firm Harris Interactive found that only 10% of those questioned were planning to upgrade to Vista in the near future. All versions of XP, including those made for media centre or tablet PCs, are affected by the decision.

I like XP, but I'm looking forward to trying Vista. I wonder if you will be able to 'downgrade' a Vista Machine to XP once you have bought it?

I don't think you can dino... Worth dual booting tbh. I'v got my copy of vista home premium still sealed.. waiting for all the compatability issues to be sorted, and new drivers for my 8800 gtx to come out (would half my frame rate going to vista! Just pointless).

Cheers Sean

Well this is rubbish no offence. 1.All new pcs don't feature xp at all around me all vista 2.as long as you have a xp disk just format the hard drive and install xp off the disk.

I dont see the need for Vista at the moment, I dont really like the thought of slowing my laptop down.

Is there any themes or skins for XP to make it look nice like Vista.

Also has anyone seen Ubuntu - that looks sweet.

Vista looks great but most people can't afford £400+ to have something to sit there and look pretty!

Xp will hopefully be supported for a long while yet. (Many businesses will be using xp for years yet!)
