I'd avoid Sky broadband like the plague, certainly NOT the most reliable (always dropping out).

If your an O2 customer, O2 BB is fantastic, double the speed (adsl2+) and very cheap

Im not an o2 customer...does this matter?

    Is it fully wireless?

It's a difficult initial question to answer because many people wont have experienced many ISP's, maybe 3 at maximum so we wont be able to give you a reliable answer.
However we can say what ISP's we have problems with to help you avoid them.

I'm with AOL and have been for a number of years. I find them to provide a good internet service with reliable speeds but their customer service is average at best, with very few UK call centres.

To answer your latest question, you do not have to be an O2 mobile user to use the internet, although you may find that they will try to advertise their mobile deals to you.

I'm with BT , never had a dropped connection yet . Would'nt go Tiscali , I use my old tiscali e-mail address and get spammed everyday , the e-mails are not even addressd to me but still get through there server and try to sell me Viagra ,Fake watches , cheap software etc. Remember ,whoever you chose ,if they dont give you a wi-fi unit , you can still go wireless ,just buy a wi-fi modem/router and connect yourself .That's what I did with BT on option 2 . Just went to Maplin and bought Belkin setup , really good with a strong signal.

dont go with sky - they have a £30 connection and £70 disconnection fee (regardless of contract or not) - thats £100 without even using their service!!!

The question is flawed. No broadband except satellite is wireless it all … The question is flawed. No broadband except satellite is wireless it all comes to your house wired. It's your router that at a local level makes it wireless. So in your case, any broadband is wireless. So go with any company and get a router. I'm with Talk Talk and pay £20.50 a month for line rental, 8 mb broadband(I actually get the full 8 meg), and free calls to landlines 24/7. That's the best deal I found. Then just get a £30 Linksys router and its wireless.

What about the 3G broadband now offered by mobile operators?

    I have Sky Max broadband.

    There was no connection fee.

    The signal never drops out.

I get a consistent download speed of 13mb

    Excellent service, 0 complaints

(and I'm sure many others will have the same excellent service / terrible service stories to report)

Ok and that, it's not what they meant though anyway.

Exactly, you did know what they meant originally but were trying to be a smarty pants

Virgin Media is the best broadband provider. IMO
