Wisdom teeth extraction
Wisdom teeth, also called third molars, usually appear between the ages of 15 to 25. If the mouth is too small for these four additional molars, an extraction is often necessary. Early wisdom teeth removal will help to prevent problems such as an impacted wisdom tooth.

Dental costs

Dental charges depend on the treatment you need to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy. You will only ever be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it. If you are referred to another dentist for another, separate course of treatment, you can expect a second charge. Some minor treatments are free.
NHS dental charges from 1 April 2011

Band 1 course of treatment – £17.00
This covers an examination, diagnosis (eg X-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if needed, and application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant. If you require urgent care, even if your urgent treatment needs more than one appointment to complete, you will only need to pay one Band 1 charge.
Band 2 course of treatment – £47.00
This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or if your dentist needs to take out one or more of your teeth.
Band 3 course of treatment – £204.00
This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures and bridges.
Detailed information about each treatment band can be found in the NHS dental treatments section.

have you had a xray ??
wisdom teeth can be hard to take out so like impacted for example
if x rayed at your dentist and complications found it may be free through your local hospital
go have a check up at your dentist and find out
hope this helps
ur wisdom teeth will be uncomfortable while they come through, but unless there crooked you will be fine, just tolerate it

i couldnt eat for the weeks mine came through, was just biting down on gum...
It depends which one it is... One of mine I had to go to hospital as it was quite tricky to take out and had it done under the Nhs.
The second one wasn't too bad so I went to a private one and it was just under £100. It's quite expensive but I was in so much pain and my new dentist is lovely! I used to be scared of going but not anymore :-)
My son,s in great pain aswell has his are just coming through so i await to see what other comments are made so i can tell him what age do they come through his 22
go to the dentist -

you have pericorinitis - when a wisdom tooth comes through infection and pain can arise which effects the jaw etc .

they might be able to do it in surgery themselfs - on NHS its £47 - but due to and depending on the diffuculty ( poor acess , if its impacted , sedation ?) , they might opt for a private option .

Alternatively they can refer you to hospital to remove the tooth which is free , or a local extraction clinic that might charge £47 for extraction . If you choose to have sedation at the clinic you might have to pay extra .

But if this is the 1st time you had this type of ache with the wisdom tooth , you will be given antibiotics for 5-7 days , adv to take painkillers , and soft diet advisory and it should settle .
If the pain comes back frequently in a short period of time say 6 monthes , then extraction should be done .

if its painful try oralgel for the pain it numbs the area like a dentists injection
My wisdom teeth recently came through on one side, i was advised not to have them removed as they were not impacted. The pain was constant but bearable for a few weeks.
both my wisdoms are pushing through. really painfull but this stuff really helps.
