Put a smear of vaseline around the insides of your nostrils - it catches pollen grains and fewer of them get through. Not pretty but quite effective.

Eat honey that is made locally to you, it has to be as local as possible (less than 50 mile radius from your home). The bees collect the pollen from your local area and over time gives you immunity from the allergens. Called Allergy Immunotherapy.

Hope it helps

Does the local honey thing work? Have heard of this before but not tried it.
I use Beconase nasal spray & works reasonably well.

Honey thing works for us, we can get honey which is made about 2 miles away from our house. I think it will probably be increasingly less effective the further away it is from cos it won't contain the local pollen to your house.

Piriton always works for me

My little boys 4 and he had swollen, watery, itchy (sticky at times) eyes week or two ago and I was really worried because I hadn't a clue what it was and I don't know anybody with heyfever so didn't kow what I was looking for. But yes, that's what the doc said. I'm gutted for him - it's bad enough anyway but when it's a child.... well I really feel for him. They've given him eyedrops but don't eem to do a lot!

I feel for you, I know what it's like. I wear wrap-around sunglasses whenever I go out, which helps with my eyes. Also, I take the anti-histamin tablets every day, EVEN when I think I will be fine. Haven't tried the local honey thing, but that's interesting. The vaseline tip is a good one too, haven't tried that one yet.
If my eyes are sore I use a cold gel pack from the freezer, helps to soothe it.

Puffy eyes, runny nose and a flemmy cough......... mmmmm sexy!

My hayfever has eased off the last few years, the vaseline up the nose is good

BTW, Tesco doing 2 for 1 on some hayfever tab's.

poor u! hope u get better soon.

Wear eye protection - some sort of glasses, when you're outside. ( Optimum would be those wrap around safety goggles you wear in the lab - I'm sure you know the ones I mean - but prob too outlandish for anything other than in the garden!!)

Echinae? Or summat like that?

It sounds pretty bad. I recommend seeing a homeopath. My wife was totally cured of Eczema after seeing one, and I've heard they can be good for Hay Fever. It can be expensive, but it sounds like it would be worth it.
Make sure you get a recommendation from someone in your area - even your GP should be able to recommend one, and phone the Homeopath up to ask what they can do for you.

I agree, im dying!

So have sufferers found theirs has gone worse over the past couple of days? I don't get it that badly, but either I'm having a bit of a hit of it, or I'm getting a cold! But it doesn't feel like a cold...

Works really well on AM too he used to suffer really bad but not so much now unless we are away from our local area.

I suffer just the same and rub my eyes so much that I end up with what look like blisters over the eyeball! I was taking Telfast but this year the doctor changed it and now taking Cetirizine Hydrochloride and a nasal spray Rynacrom and eye drops but have tried the vaseline thing around the nostrils and I really think it works plus have been taking the tablets every evening about 7pm for 3 months!

dont hang ur washing outside! my docs best top tip ever!

Sounds more like the menopause to me - Dr G
Would you like me to take a look ?

Im dying today!

The best thing to do is bathe your nose and eyes in cold water to wash all the pollen away.
For the nose, vaseline around the lining of your nose catches the pollen.

Echinacea is sometimes good but it is more for colds than hayfever.
Any sunglasses on helps......
