Wonderful, Mozilla and IE aren't working!

I decided to do some cleaning and booted into safe mode. I was about 30% done using disk cleanup to compress 6.5GB (!?) when the electric went.

"Windows cannot find '(null)'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search"

My problem is this - Mozilla is dead and IE is only working with the MSN search bar IE has on its homepage, I get a 'null' error when trying to do anything without the MSN homepage search thing. Even better, I can't download anything using IE without getting this 'null' error.

System restore did nothing helpful. It did make Mozilla an option, but that doesn't do me much good when I get the loading thing for a sec after clicking it and then nothing.

Just so you know, I don't have a WinXP disc. Begging and PC repair shops are my only solution if this requires yet another reinstallation to remedy.

Here's a list of what I know aren't working:

IE (MSN search bar somehow working doesn't exactly count as working)
Mozilla
Windows Messanger (great, can't get anyone to send me the browser installer files...)
Windows Update
Microsoft Update

Messanger not working is a bitch, it's almost like my computer doesn't want me to get someone to send me the IE/Mozilla installer files!

Ok, managed to reinstall Firefox. IE doesn't any issues with files you can use 'save target as' to download, it has problems with popup windows.

Going to look into the Windows Update/IE side of things later.

^ Cool, I'll try Opera if IE starts playing up again.

IE seemed to decide to work again after having a rest. No explanation I can think of, I tried turning it on and off last night with no luck.

Windows Update freezes up when checking for updates now and seems to take longer downloading/installing them, and the IE update + two others won't install, but it does work. Seems like my disc cleanup/crash somehow deleted all my old XP updates.

Anyway, my problem now is my DPI setting. I changed my text size from 96 to 120 DPI a few hours before deciding to clean my system...I'm now stuck with 120 DPI. I'm guessing it's because the disk cleanup removed the files XP needed to change the font size that let you do it without using the XP disc.

Could anyone give me the font file on the XP disc that my computer is asking for/advice on how to work around this? This new font setting makes the font on effected websites look way too big...
