Just noticed that there appears to be no toys/homewares/electricals/Baby sections on Woolworths website! The toys section link for example has even disappeared from the main page - anyone else verify this??? Is this the beginning of the end??????????

Yep, but you have the top 10 toys, Boys toys & girls toys...

Same for me. Typed in a selection of toys, brought them up but wouldn't add anything to the basket.

Yep, seems like only their entertainment arm - part-owned by the BBC - is left!! That's worrying....think we're gonna hear some bad news very soon

oh dear, so what will happen to them then?

if you paid by card, don't they cover you for that?

Its not looking good. I had a look, some stuff added to basket ok, but most just says couldnt be purchased at this time.

well said, don't want to see woolies gone bust

imho woolies is carp and has been carp for as long as i remember.

Its like an old elephant that is slowly dying. People want it to live but unless something fundamental can be done then we would just be delaying the inevitable death of this old shop.

They wouldnt be in such trouble if their brand actually ment something, brands themselves can be worth getting into the debt to own but over the years wollies has meant less and less, it doesnt signify value, or quality, it doesnt even have as good choice as many of its competitors.

Basically the time is up for woolies as we know it, there is little market for it. I will be sad to see 30,000 people out of jobs but that number is inflated no doubt by 1000's of part time kids up and down the country who could prob easily (and no doubt earn more) get a job at Mcdonalds.

I got plenty of value and quality from them today. Loads of toys........many half price and all had an extra 20% off at the tills. I now have more Lego than the Lego shop for Xmas pressies. :-D

They are Rock............almost as much as me :w00t: :-D

I'll miss Woolworths if it goes. A typical British institution with a shop virtually on every high street, bit like Marks & Sparks, WHSmith etc.

Apparently they are cutting back on "multi-channel retailing". It'll be a shame if Woolies goes completely because they're great for all sorts of things - not least Ladybird clothing - but the website hasn't been great for a while now; everything I've wanted on the toy front online has always been out of stock. That's been the case for over a year now (perhaps I'm just unlucky).

But as others have said, they're a high street institution and I'd hate to see them go.

Apparently 25th Nov was the last day of toy trading online for them. Would be good if they'd put some info on the website to let people know what's happening though.
