I was in last night looking at childrems coats and they were just putting them out reduced from £30 to £15,But they didnt look like they would have ever been £30,Did not look at any thing else so cannot comment,

Oh might have to pop around and have a look at whats going!

The sale is pretty normal at this time of year at Woolworth's, The only time people go into Woolworths is when they've got sales on.

Wouldn't surprise me if Woolworth's administration isn't just a major publicity stunt to attract more customers.

They should just sell groceries & rename themselves as a supermarket, as that is now the only thing that differentiates them from Tesco, Asda, W.M.Morrison, etc.

Well, that, and the fact that the others are still trading.

It's difficult to call if anybody is going to make an offer for the name & (a portion of) the debts they owe. If the reports are true that the trading premises are now leased (as they were sold off years ago), the Company owes millions in advertising revenue, and the stock on the shelves is not owned by the Company but the suppliers (now creditors) are expecting to be paid weeks (or months) after delivery, then it is surprising that Woolworths have managed to last this long.

Yes, it will be sad to see them go, but as mentioned above, you only seem to visit when there is a sale on.

The Woolworths name will now sadly decline into "Poundland" or "The 99p Shop" territory (or whatever those establishments are called now that the standard rate of VAT is less than it was).

Makes you wish you didn't fill your pockets full of pick'n'mix as a kid now, doesn't it...?

Just been in.
Only 10% off console games (rubbish). 20% off most children's toys and household stuff. 50% off Christmas stuff and games. Most of my local town was in there. I didn't really find anything apart from a multi-tool set but the queue was so long I couldn't be bothered to wait!

Same here.

20% off toys but the original prices weren't as low as last week so I got a better deal with the 20% voucher!
10% off boxes of chocolates
20% of kids clothes
30% off some bits and pieces like wrapping paper
10% off console games
There was only 1 shelf with 50% which was some christmas gifts like a footspa, hairdryer, etc

It was rather busy, but not really worth it

We had a big queue of people outside of ours this morning,it was abit ****,nothing any cheaper than shopping online.my local radio said every thing was half price, they forgot to say up to,there was alot of angry people waiting for the doors to open, everybody thought it was 50% of everything.some of they toys went up in price from a few days ago to make up for the discount, well crafty.

I just queued for half an hour! Most stuff is only 20% off but i managed to get my daughter a lovely wool coat for £12 so im happy.

Oh and 3 for 2 not on now by the looks of it either.

You cannot blame them for trying... trying to get many people through the doors whilst prices are still (very) high.

Problem with wicking people off with this tactic is that the same people may not come back when the 'proper' discounted items are available just before the shutters come down for good.

But that leaves the best bargains for those who wait

I found loads of stuff that had been cheaper a few days ago, so not such a good sale, although the kitchenware was really reduced so managed to grab a few bits. The queue for Xbox and stuff like that was huge though and the price was only reduced by 10%:?

If they can afford 50% off and to go down so early in morning and miss work then they aint that badly off therefore dont need to have things reduced.
