Is it Gregg's?

whats your contract say?
as long as i can buy bread im not fussed anyway!

Who worked Boxing Day last year and the year before?
Who wants to work and who doesn't?

Too many variables to give an answer

It should be rota and/or choice if nobody wants to work that day then the management uses the rota

I completely understand how you must be feeling your boss could of made it fair on all of you, but think about it if you go into work saying "if he's not working then neither am I" you could cause more problems for yourself. Just think about the triple pay you're going to receive that's brilliant & at least you're getting Christmas day off.

Didn't think they could make u work anyway as it's a bank holiday

Good luck & remember try & stay calm while getting your point across.

You have been lucky with two weeks off over Christmas most just get the 3 bank hols and some like yourself not even that.

hope you don't end up in a&e where there is no docs or nurses as they wanted the shift off like their local baker
most nhs will be working right through the whole holiday pending on their rota

is this a serious post ? people who work for the nhs do so as a carrear fair play to them but i have a medicore job which basicly just pays the bills so excuse me if i want a couple of days off at christmas to spend with loved ones

Doesn't work like that, my past two jobs have shut down over Christmas it's enforced holiday comes out of your allowance, you haven't gained anything from it.

Is it Hartlepool! or Liverpool!?

By the end of this sentence it was angry rambling and the entire story hasn't emerged.
What has annoyed you? That one person was asked and not you? That they volunteered the pool? That you want the day off?
Don't forget that your mate (as many others do) may see Boxing Day as another day and want to take advantage of the triple pay. All it seems like he did was volunteer himself. If he put the whole team forward, that's pretty harsh as the majority want Boxing Day off
