think you need to work over 30+ hours

over 25, no kids and working 30hrs a week min.

thats me and I get £27.80 a week ontop of my £6.10 per hour from Currys.

only 27.80?i work 37.5 hours at 6.41, no kids but married and i have been quoted £86 a week

Just a quick reminder with benefits like these if they dont give you the right amount ie overpay you even though its their fault they will claim the money back and also normally in one big chunk

thats right, but how will they overpay you?they once overpaid my jobseekers and didnt ask for it back

that'll be down to you being married & the circumstances of your partner's employment etc
am single, when I lived with my last gf, we got around £75 a week extra.

am due to move in with the current one in June so we can re-claim, with her being a fulltime student and not working, we should get more.

they can over pay you if say your tax code changes and you don't inform them, or if like working for Currys, you get different levels of bonus per month.
am expecting an overpayment to be worked out once my p60 is issued to them

Also the calculator doesnt account for how close you are to end of finanacial year so you need to get on phone to them and get a true figure after they have done all their homework. Calculator is just a ball park figure

you get paid on last years earnings, but not the wisest thing to do, i would go on this new years predicted earnings

Original Poster

i gave them this years earnings from december to march and thats how they worked it out, at £86 a week.one more thing, if i recieve tax credits can my wife claim jobseekers or is it just one or the other?thanks rep added sassie

im not sure on that one, you would need to check, you really would have been better claiming at the beginiing of the next tax year and to gve a predicted wage, rather than last years

can it be back dated? oh right u mean i should apply from april this year?

no it cant be back dated, yes from april the 4th or whenever it is

trouble is if you apply on last years wage you will be over paid this year, because although they go on last years earning it is for this year, if that makes sense, so then they pull it back following year from that years money

Original Poster

hmm.well by the time the form comes and i send it and they process it, it will probably be april.
i actually quoted them from this years wage from december 2009-march 2010

if you can, when you reapply from april, try and give them your predicted wage if you have a new job, again remember if you are overayed they will take back next when you reclaim, hence why alot dont recalim
