Would this work to connect my new TV to the internet?

I bought the Sony Bravia KDL40EX403U a few weeks back:

It has internet TV so you can watch iplayer and stuff on it.

I was wondering if this would work to connect it to the internet:
Have my laptop connected to the internet through wi-fi then connect an ethernet cable from my laptop to the TV?

My router is about 30 metres away from the tv upstairs and I don't want to move it.

try homeplugs they are great for this just done it myself because u want a good connection for streaming

I don't want to be spending a lot of money. If I can connect it the way I said in my post it would cost nothing.

A cheap way to connect your TV is to use a wireless bridge - this means you won't need to leave your laptop turned on:
