Would you bother with iPad if deal was cheap?

Would you get the first iPad if the deal were cheap given that the iPad2 is coming out next week?

Or do you think that having the most recent would be more important/beneficial?

In tests the 2 is hardly any quicker

I saw a review showing it to be half the depth and around 100g cheaper. Video clip showed it was slightly faster. Couldn't really see enough to make it warrent the additional expense over cheap deals that are out now.

The market will be flooded with cheap secondhand 1's in a week, get one … The market will be flooded with cheap secondhand 1's in a week, get one of those

I should imagine so. I'm thinking the new alternatives may be worth a look instead.

I would get one if they came down to £200/230 ish but would rather a new one I think

I was contemplating a first gen, but think Id rather pay the extra. Ipads seem to retain their value quite well also.

1st gen here bought last week. Not fussed about the difference in spec. It may take a dive in value but it will probably come back a bit by the time I might want to change it. The way I see it, my 32GB 3G which should have been £599 has cost me £330ish due to codes, vouchers, quidco and Comet staffs sheer ineptitude

Asking because I ordered one earlier today on contract. 32GB and 3G, but 24 months!!! A period of time I always avoid straight out! Price was too tempting at £49 + contract and it was a case of a fool and his money.
    Rethinking before I take delivery.

I would get one without a contract!! 24 months is a crazy long time, your looking at ipad 3 and 4 before your contract is up. Plus you can get some good deals on 3g sims.

How much a month is your contract?

I realised this. But I'm the kind of person that still has the first version PSP. I'm highly unlikely to fork out again. Only ever upgrade my mobile....nothing else.
But being in contract for so long is the killer point here. Really think I'm likely to cancel now...

    Would be £25.

Was this the groupon deal? I thought it looked fairly poor

cancel it! Ipad 1 only came out last may thats 10 months...god knows how much will come out before your 24months has ended. Just take the plunge on a 3g model first gen and get a 3g sim on a rolling contract or something, that way then if you need to down the line you can sell up with out losing too much or being tied in

I guess it does depend on whether it will bother you if you see the new ones and like them.

How much data are you getting?

Pretty sure that's the route I'll be taking now.

"This plan comes with a mobile internet fair use policy of 1GB a month to use anytime and 1GB a month to use between midnight and 10am each day. There is also a WiFi fair use policy of 3GB a month. "
