Would you ever consider moving from the uk

I was born in london and have lived in london for 24 years (well i lived in leeds for a year lol)

but as ive grown up i have like many other's noticed that london is just getting worse & worse, did anyone see the news last night/this morning about the kid shot dead in costcosters in london, my brother was in the shop just 20 minutes before it happened and noticed the mopeds driving around the road a few times,

all this has just got me thinking, i have a son who is 2 now whats it going to be like when he is older, i would hate to leave the country i was born in but i seriously cant see this getting better anytime soon

    what would you do ?

I thought about it, but my Missus wouldnt leave.

My choice was Oz, though there would be others if there wasn't a language barrier. Just got back yesterday from Geneva (where we go each year to visit friends) and I would definately think of living there.

I have to travel offshores at least 3/12 months, mostly India, Srilanka, America or Pakistan .... I think I will choose Pakistan if I had to move.

definitely considering it for a few years time. Most people I know would love to leave when we talk about it

I would... but unfortunately I'm still a student (finishing my Masters in like a months time) and would want to work in the UK for a couple of years before moving away.

But I do agree, I think the country in general is going downhill. Not enough respect from people, kids as young as 12/13 have got some serious attitude. I would want to see compulsory civil service, I think it would have benefited me as well.

I'm thinking about moving to Australia or New Zealand in about 8-10 years with the misses

Better standard of living, better weather, less taxes, English speaking, gorgeous sea's (need I go on ?)

i want to move..but im not sure about leaving the uk, it might be a whole new world..i would have to really consider it..also money is an obvious factor..but i def want to move far away from where i am now.

i would love too but in reality i cant
1.it would not be fair on my 2 eldest or their dad 2 take them away from near there dad
2.myself and my kids are very fair skinned so i would worry about skin cancer
3.scared of big spiders, earthquakes etc lol

weather sucks, food sucks, girls are ugly general way of life is ****, everyone is miserable lol this came from a footballer in a news article and i can see where he is coming from

My hubby would move to Spain If I agreed at the drop of a hat, but I like it here

My choice would also be Australia, or perhaps New Zealand. I was strongly considering it last year but I feel rather tied down til my debts are cleared. Unfortunately it's going to take years :-(

The chances of being exposed to crime etc is more relevant to socio-economic status and which part of a city/country you live in than to the actual country. Every country has it's fair share of serious crimes, so I think the main consideration is not just where you might emigrate but 'which part of town' you would be able to afford to live in when you get there...

100% right, when i moved to leeds i started off in beeston (there was people being mugged and smashed to bits left right and center and no one blinked an eyelid) then i moved to horseforth and it was like i had moved a million miles away it was like a sleepy village, the thing is i would love to stay in london but i just cant think of a single are that i would say is '' safe '' maybe chelsea i geuss as i live in battersea now so it would be far to move :-D maybe staying with in the uk maybe our best option

Good move. Council tax is only £60 per year there and they collect your bins daily :-D

not to mention, better food, cheaper everything, weather, crime, and everything else.

Just waiting for the spanish housing market to collapse which its starting to

csiman how do you get cheaper crime...:p

I would like to, but I'd only consider moving to Aus, but all the spiders … I would like to, but I'd only consider moving to Aus, but all the spiders and snakes stop me, so I never would.

    What spiders and snakes?

You're not someone that thinks you'll see skippy bouncing down the centre of the high street are you!:p

Yeh sure, they exist. I lived in Sydney for 6 months and apart from Taronga Zoo, I never saw any snakes and only harmless house spiders.

Just check the outhouse dunney before you sit down. You'll be fine!

i was thinking canada, hopefully they'll be a job for me there in a few years

is the grass greener on the other side ?

Obviously not anywhere near your avatar!!!!

austalia is too hot for me, wheres the porridge thats just right?

    San Francisco for me

moving soon as i retire! at the moment i cant yet. it's a love hate relationship with london. whenever i feel tird of london i always need to get away then appreciate the city more. one thing i notices, i sigh a whole lot more nowadays. 22 kids dead by the gun this year and it's only august.

Just take into account the possible weather/water situation if you're seriously consider moving to a hotter country, particularly Southern Europe/Australia etc.

In 20-30 years time these places will be seriously short of water according to worst case scenario projections.

Do you really want to live somewhere that may be in serious danger of becoming a desert?

never leave the country i love

yes lovely fresh seafood, partying in sydney (they know how to do fireworks and party like there's no tomorrow at mardi gras), beach, amazing sea ...

but i still want a f-all castle with a big moat around it, that i only let down the drawbridge for people i like to come in LOL.

I didn't used to like the idea of living anywhere but the UK but as I've grown a little wiser to the world then moving abroad sounds like a good idea. Possibly Barcelona, South Africa, Australia or even America.
