With the warranty I would say that is a very good deal.

Hard drive is big enough, and 2gb of ram is a must if you every want Vista in the future.

I may be tempted to upgrade the battery.......I think its only an extra £20 or so...

Even if the quidco doesn't track it's a decent enough deal, which would be hard to beat elsewhere

There is a big problem with batteries at the moment, really its the only flaw as i've read on full load the 4 cell will do less than 40 minutes. However most of the time it will be attached to the mains so its no biggy really. I could get it with vista biz and downgrade but i don't feel i'll upgrade to vista. Ever.

40 minutues? That doesnt sound right! I bought a Vostro 1400 with 9 cell and that can get 6 hours!!!! The extra time it gives far outweighs the sticking out battery IMHO.

That sounds like a fault and not as it should be. I would expect it to give at least 3 hours with a 6 cell.

As to OS. I had problems with my Vista Home (kept getting BSOD). They eventually sent me a XP Pro disc to install and havent had that problem since. Very happy with it apart from one thing..... I wished I had bought a smaller lappy! Its just too damn big to sit on my lap and surf on the train on my way to work!

Just noticed your comment about keeping ity plugged into the mains. DONT DO THAT! It will eventually kill the battery. Ive got 2 lappys here that have suffered that failure. The battery must be allowed to discharge or it kills them.

You can plug it into the mains without the battery can't you?

How often do you have to discharge them? I leave mine plugged in but discharge it about once a month, is that enough?

Would I buy it? No. Mostly because I woudlnt want to pay for the warrenty. But thats a personal choice. Spec is fine though - but again, Id chose c2d purely because I always have so many apps open at once and the intel is supposed to be better for that. Not saying its a fact - just what Ive read.

I would imagine you can plug it in without the battery attached.... but have never done so. Certainly mine works fine with a dead battery attached - but thats not quite the same!

As for how often you should discharge? Dunno, but would imagine once a month should be fine. That was my problem - I never let it discharge ever and always used it plugged into the mains.
