Shame if it's a Sony Store. I have a love/hate relationship with Sony but I do like visiting their stores.

Sorry to hear....but over 6 years should give you a couple of grand pay off

Make sure you get paid your full redundancy entitlement. If you've been there over 6 years it should be quite a good amount.

only problem is, im still quite young, i started the job at 18 years old and i dont think i get as much as if i wouldve started it at 21 or so.

No you won't. It does increase as you get older.

You should get half a week's gross pay for each complete year you worked at the company up until your 22nd birthday, and a week's gross pay for each complete year you worked there when you were 22 or older. (If you were over 41, you get a week and a half's gross pay per complete year over that age)

sorry to hear bout ur job as someone suggested above agencys are your best bet at the min thats what my OH is doing at the minute as there is nothing else about

dont worry about it mate, sometimes you ahead, sometimes your behind. Just be thankful for what you have. Its not the end of the world.

See it as an end of a era and a starting off a new one, take all the positives , and turn the negatives into positives too

Yeah ,losing your job is a real stinker , I know how you feel , I'm losing my job too . I've worked part time at a school for 11 years . Theres big changes a foot , one school to close . Teaching assistants and teaching staff to go as well as technical staff ...............namely me .So ,after the summer holidays I'll be looking for work too .

Hope you get sorted in a new job soon.

I'm looking to go back to work after 3 years of being ill and it fills me with dread that I might not find a job Feel at 42 that I still have a few years of work left in me.

Good luck with the job hunting x

Oh sorry to hear that. Hope you find something soon! x

my mum is in exactly the same position as you. She works in accounting in a primary school and has been told she wont have a job after the summer. she has major back problems but doesnt want to sit at home and not work so she works as much as she can and was told a few weeks back that she wont have a job to go back to. i really hope you find something!

get your payout and go backpacking.

get your working holiday visa for oz or nz and enjoy the next couple of years....

staying in 1 job for that long it will be hard to settle somewhere else so get ursen off

best advice i could give someone your age with a few grand coming your way

Sorry to hear , bit of a double blow to the family .
I have back problems too , no where near as bad since I had acupuncture a couple of years ago , so I cannot really do anything too heavy . I'm also a decorator , so have been doing 2 jobs , 3 days @ school and 3 days decorating .I'm now finding the work drying up a bit ,what with the recession and threat of jobs , the last thing folk want to do is spend money on the home .
I'm hopefull something will turn up on the job scene for everyone .
