WTD Electircan Advice and price for central heating timer......

Hi guys got a problem with my central heating thermostat or timer on the wall not really sure what to call it but it sets the temperature for the heating in the house.

The problem is the one we have on the wall at the moment is a bit battered and its hanging off the wall a little and it rattles some times causing the tv to have fuzzy lines.

    So i wanna replace it.

How much will it cost or can it be done my self?

    Thanks

Have you exceeded the REN of 4? (do you have more than 4 items plugged into your phone line?)

nope just i have broadband and phone

If you are quite handy at diy, this can be a simple Job. Even if you a different model ,maybe 15-20mins if you have to get a drill out to refix

Really any stat will do, unless you want to replace like for like if they still make that model.

All stats that I have i fitted basicly work the same way. can you read a wiring diagram?

There should be 4 wires in your stat.

    1-permant live supply
    2-switch live return
    3-neutral
    4-earth

If your in any dought then leave it for a sparks or some1 that knows what to do!

Im not very comfortable doing it myself just sounds dangerous.

Is there any electricians here in essex brentwood area.

    Thanks for replys so far.

Seriously try this yourself. You can buy a central heating timer from any DIY shop, just like wiring a plug. Just switch off the power at the mains switch first. I did this when my old one stopped working and it took about 15 minutes.

An Electrician will charge you over £100 for the pleasure.

I think its the room stat zanic is reffering to not the time clock, still just as simple to change.

Why dont you buy a new stat. then just ring a few local sparks how much to fit it they would prob do it on their way home.

I'd come and do it but I live near Bath:whistling: Sorry!!

The make is honeywell i went to the website to determine the model but i didnt know which box to tick....

Choose the description type resembling your thermostat
1-I have a mechanical clock in my thermostat
2-I have a large knob in the center of my thermostat
3-I can control a high and low temperature (a high cooling temperature, and a low heating temperature).
4-I can control one temperature - either heating or cooling

All i have is 1 knob on the right hand side with the numbers for temperature. so which is it 3 or 4 thanks.
