WTF!!! Paypal have taken money from me and have the cheek to say I owe them cash

Had a payment for something(for £75) it was fine for a few days then only knew when I got an email saying they are "investigating" it and when I log in I get a message cheekily saying I owe them money

I am like £75 in debt with them now and they dont care.

when I contact Cs they just tell me to pay it or I will get debt collectors on me

    FFS im angry at this.

have you any proof that this item was posted or if it was any other transaction?

So you got a chargeback, and now you have a negative balance?
What has the person who sent yu the £75 said?

Yep have proof it was sent but they wont tell me why its getting investigated just its being held.

Luckily it had been transferred to my bank account already hence me being in debt with them.

Its not a chargeback paypal have "held" the money and are asking where I sent it to etc.

As long as you sent to a confirmed address and have tracking information you should be ok.
However, I would send an email to the buyer asking if he knows why its been held and why paypal are saying it was possibly a fraudulent payment.

same sort of thing happened to me, like an idiot I didnt send the item as recorded- they said they didnt receive it so PayPal refunded the money, so I was £85 out of pocket.

PayPal dont care about what you say, scum bags

This has happened to me three times and there's nothing u can do unless you have proof of purchase. B****rds!!

how is it paypals fault ?? you didnt have evidence you sent the item so they had to refund the buyer...... the recorded deliverty is to save your neck ...... use it

It's hardly paypal's fault if you didn't send by a trackable method, especially for something worth £85.
It was the buyer who ripped you off (assuming they did get the item) not paypal.

I didnt say PayPal had ripped me off, maybe you are a little confused. My problem with PP is that they dont want to listen, they just dont care, and admitted that the buyer had numerous complaints against them for the same thing, the reason it wasnt sent recorded is a long story.

Anyways proof of postage proves I sent an item, not the item. Selling items over the net needs to involve a certain element of trust, sadly some people are there to con you

Sounds to me like you got paid by someone using a hacked account or using a stolen credit card. Not much you can do i'm afraid.

I think you are the confused one.
I didn't mention proof of postage, I said tracked, and tracked proves delivery. And had you sent tracked, regardless of what you sent (which is a flaw in the paypal system), paypal would have refused the claim (assuming it was delivered).
I also didn't say paypal ripped you off, I said the buyer did.

I don't see what you wanted paypal to do, they can't change the rules to suit you. Whatever you have to say, the fact remains, if a buyer says they didn't get the item and you can't prove otherwise then the buyer will get a refund. That is the rule, and they aren't 'scum bags' just because they wouldn't change them for you.

They tell u the paymet has been received and that u can post the item........then once u've posted it they take it away from u coz infact the payment hasn't been received!!:x
and people genereally don't want to pay that little bit more

its not the buyers responsibility to pay for tracked delivery, its yours....... if they don't recieve item, you lose out

i have had sellers on ebay try to say its not my problem etc but paypal always side with the buyer cos you cannot prove the item was recieved by the buyer

its 70p more ...... it saves your neck

paypal is prone to hacked accounts, be careful...... i always wait 3 days before sending item out so any problems are found b4 i send......

i have never had a problem with any buyers cos i have my settings high & won't send unless im happy ...... even if it ****** off a few peeps

You know what i do i withraw my money all the time , then if my paypal is in minus feck it.

PayPal and eBay only care about money - not their customers.

y do people automatically assume the buyer is out to scam them, I have had to claim a couple of times when I have not re'ed an item, why should the buyer be out of pocket?

Same thing happened to me... 3 years ago lol. That's when I stopped accepting Paypal for anything over a fiver heh

They are scam artists. I gave them proof of postage and everything, but.. Ah well. They said the card was stolen and although the address was verified it wasn't correct or something. Anyway, they threatened me with debt collectors so I paid it and closed my account.

proof of postage can be forged so it isnt accepted by paypal,,,,,, it isnt a trackable method either ....
recorded or special delivery only or a courier is what paypal accept,,,,,, just add the 70p to the postage costs on your items

If they bother checking the right website!

Last year they froze my account for 8 months even though they had the tracking details claiming my faxes came through blank or black, that my tracking numbers were invalid etc

What they did was Check DHL USA instead of DHL UK and every time I said to check I got a reply with they have checked the couriers website and it doesnt show up on dhl usa.

    Idiots

I sent them numerous complaint emails threatening them with court until eventually I sent loads in a short period and magically was given my money and account unlocked.

u sure it wasnt a credit card chargeback ?? item not described ? there are so many different ways paypal can take the money .........

always list the item 100%, don't sell to non-uk members and send recorded

you cant stop a credit charge back tho unfortunately

Anything worth £10 or more goes recorded for me now when I sell on Ebay, items less than that and I get a FREE Proof Of Postage certificate.

It's not worth the potential grief without insuring your parcels.

That is what probably happened, no idea as it was a while ago and it was my first week using Paypal heh. Never had a problem though, the buyer even left positive feedback. Then 2 weeks later I had a negative account and Paypal biting on my heels.

If it happened now I probably wouldn't roll over so easily. Back then though I had enough on my plate, so I just paid it and closed the account.

I probably would of never of lost the money though if I knew this could happen. I would never have opened an account

i have had my paypal about 2 years,..... you just need to be vigilant when using it & know how to spot a potential problem buyer e.g. check feedbacks (can't leave buyers feedback no more tho, which is a chit for sellers)

ebay don't allow you to use them no more :x and can you trust buyers ???

paypal is brilliant for buyers but a pain in the ass for sellers

If you are selling a mobile, paypal can have you anyway... they did it to me last christmas! Small time seller, I was selling my OH's brand new N95 he got on contract but didn't like. Got nearly £200 for it, and spent it soon after on the mobile he wanted.

Buyer happy... seller happy... great... but paypal 'flagged' the sale as 'high risk' :?

It cost a fortune in phone calls, I rang the buyer to ask them to email paypal... which they did... still not good enough.

If I were you, I would avoid the number that paypal put on their site. Check out 'say no to 0870' for the land line number ( BTW it is in Dublin, ie classed as a inter-national call from a mobile... yes, I messed up there! :x), my problem got sorted with one phone call to the landline number, I can't tell you how long I spent on the phone paying premium rates talking to muppets!? :?

Good luck... I fear you may need it... :?

edit: here is the say no link!
