You need to connect it to the internet via ethernet or xbox wireless adapter and purchase a xblive subscription card... its very simple to do...

is the xbox connected to the internet at the moment?

no its not sorry, i'd need to know what i need to buy to get it connected, would rather wireless, a friend tells me thats pants and keeps disconnecting - is that true? dont think im capable of running leads upstairs?

If you want wireless then you need the official xbox wireless network adapter, i believe there is a cheaper alternative, but it would be more complicated, I have my router downstairs, that way there's a short wire to the xbox, and wirelessly connected to the PC.

Hard wired will always be better imho

it depends on the distance from your router (internet source) and the type of router you have...

You need one of these, but shop around as this is pretty steap!! gamestation.co.uk/Xbo…er/

as long as you have wireless internet in your house-this seems to be the package for you
hotukdeals.com/ite…-1/
includes the adaptor and 12 months subscription!

yup-that link has everything u need then-theres a 5% discount code in the thread.as it says in the thread you may be lucky if you hoke around for an adaptor and xbl sub seperately, but this is all in one place and is a decent price:thumbsup:

Xbox Live is free for a few days soon. Also, if you sign up to xbox live on your xbox you get a month trial.

as reliable as they come-have heard complaints and some people use homeplugs-tbh i dont know much about them.this is the only microsoft wireless adaptor so is recommended by them(if that means anything to you) and ive never had problems when ive used it-saves having a lead from ur router to your xbox...its handy your getting it for his birthday-he'll be looking for a renewnal of xbl for next birthday...no more vouchers or socks!lol!

Oh and i do know what i'm doing as my job is telecoms technical support so you can trust me
