RROD (red ring of death) Go to Argos see what they say, should be 1 year manufacturer warranty on it anyway. If they tell you to shove it give microsoft a call they will fix it even out of warranty

    Edit: Microsoft helpline 0800 587 1102

go to microsoft bout it, will b fixed within 3weeks id say

    Their site says:

If there's a fault with the product...

    We've made it easier!

If you bring it back to us within 30 days with your proof of purchase*, we'll give you a
    replacement or a refund.
If you've had the product for up to 1 year, we'll repair the product or, if that's not possible, give you a replacement or, if that's not possible, a refund.
Please note that all large kitchen appliances are excluded from our 30 day guarantee, but if your item develops a fault within 30 days, call us on 0845 640 0800 and one of our agents will assist you with your problem. If faulty and if it cannot be repaired we will arrange a replacement free of charge or you can opt for a refund.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
    * If you had your item delivered, your order number which can be found on your order acknowledgement or delivery packaging counts as your receipt/proof of purchase.

    Hope this helps

he took the breakdown cover on this, but as its under 12 months its still under warranty anyway, just wondering if anyone has dealt with argos with this problem and how fast ti was dealt with, or of he should go to microsoft direct

argos wont do anything. i bought one last year. i had to contact microsoft and they sent a courier to collect it. i had to wait arround a month to get it back. if you get the ring of death you are coverd for three years i think. or you used to be. good luck and welcome to the club. i dont know anyone that hasnt suffered from it..........

Not experianced it myself - but have read it loads of times. Argos will just tell you to contact Microsoft. Probably just as well. They do deal with it properly by all accounts - and as mentioned it takes about 3 weeks to be repaired/replaced.

yep, ownage espec as gow2 is out, if that happened to me id just buy new console lol!

    microsoft will take 3 weeks!

Ring death thingy? I get that after a particularly hot curry and Argos where no use to me.

If hes got the extended warranty i think argos will give you a new one there and then and send the old one back themselves thats what happened with my dads camera anyways

As its under 12 months, by rights your contract is with them, therefore up to them to sort although it may be easier to deal with M$ yourself.

    u wat?

You're not speaking like that dopey bint from Big Brother are you?

If it's under the standard 12 months warranty, Statutory Law (Consumer Rights Act) states you're entitled to a refund or a new console in exchange. I would try Argos first. If you have the receipt it would make it 10 times easier. MS will fob you off with a refurb unit.

I dont think it does either. That only applies to the first 30 days. After that its not deemed unreasonable to be offered a repair to solve the problem.

    ;-)

I got the red rings in june, I'd bought it from argos in november so rather than deal with microsoft I took it back. At first they just told me to contact with microsoft so got the manager down and after a bit of huffing and puffing he said I could get a full refund as long as everything I got in the package was still ok etc. Being **** I had every little green bag etc and my receipt, so then came what about my details on the harddrive so I think to just get rid of me he gave me that back as well as full £250 refund.

So I'd take it back to argos and pester them but to be honest I think it really depends how they feel at that time what they'll do as I believe after 6 months they are only required to replace or repair the item.

our son 360 has just come back from belguim repair centre yesterday, the second time in 3 months, and he got it last xmas!!!!!!!.........microsoft are fast to respond(yeah they have fkd up bigtime) you get in tuch via online or call ,you get a prepaid return label and UPS come and collect(THEY ARE FAB AND APPARENTLY MICROSOFT ARE KEEPING THEM IN BUSINESS WITH ALL THE RETURNS THEY GET) both times its been back in about 2 weeks...........tbh i didnt expect it to break down after the first time and am furious about it!

Sassie, you say the extra warranty was purchased? if so this is with ARGOS, not Microsoft, and normally the grounds on which those things are sold is that you get a replacement straight away, even for accidental damage etc, so it is very worthwhile going to Argos, MS cover the machine for the said fault, but as the added protection was purchased it is now Argos's problem (as far as I see it anyway).
Also, when I bought my RROD console, I registered it online first, called MS, they sent the courier to me, it went to Germany, got fixed and was back at my door in exactly a week, think the only reason the original ones took so long was 'coz there was a big demand for it all in one go, now they have more facilies for repair and the infrastructure is lots better.
Hope that helps you out hun,

    Mike..

mike, that is only with a replacement warranty (only available on purchases under £150), not a breakdown warranty (only available to purchases over £150) a breakdown warranty covers repiars, a replacement warranty replaces the item, anyway he has phoned microsoft and they are picking it up within 3 days

haven't read the whole thread so sorry if i repeat anyone but i would say take it back to argos and they should exchange. aln got his from asda and when his broke it was still under warranty and got it exchanged no bother but my mums partner got his from woolies and his broke and he took it back whilst under warranty and he was told he had to go thru xbox and it took 3-4weeks for him to get it back.
