Xbox 360 Arcade to increase in price to £159.99 (from £129.99) starting 1st September

Just thought i'd let everyone know. Also no 5 xbox live arcade games included and xbox pro to be discontinued

    From eurogamer:

Retailers have told Eurogamer that Microsoft will increase the price of the Arcade Xbox 360 bundle to £159.99 (from £129.99) starting 1st September. The five XBLA games will no longer be included in the bundle, either.

ShopTo boss Igor Cipolletta received confirmation from Microsoft this morning, as did a corroborating independent retail chain source.

We're also told that Microsoft will bump the price of individual Xbox 360 accessories by one or two pounds. Our independent retail source said this is being done to counteract the poor pound-to-Euro currency exchange rate.

Furthermore, the email from Microsoft to retailers mentioned only Arcade and Elite bundles. This strengthens rumours that the Premium Xbox 360 bundle is being discontinued.

load of rubbish im sorry - the arcade wouldnt go up to that ever

    Hmmm dont believe that

    Why cant you believe it?
At £130 it was far cheaper than anything else on the market.

and the premium model IS being discontinued.
it will be the elite and the arcade only soon due to games on demand coming onto the xbox.
having more space on the hard drive encourages purchases.

Indeed, I also heard from a few people on Twitter it will be going up.
    Hope so ;P
Might increase the value of the 5 I already got haha

that is very strange of microsoft to do this, one of the reasons why new gamers choose this over the ps3 is that is is more affordable, unless they have realised they marketed it too cheap thus affecting thier profit margin, who knows, hey what do I care I already have one.

hey titchimp, is that bubbles as your avi by any chance? if so... legend.

one way of generating traffic to your site

    post nonsense!

Interestingly the article signally fails to mention the also-rumoured price drop of the Elite. Oh well.

Apparently it's according to the exchange rate.

load of shoite. I work for a games retailer and that sounds like a load of rubbish.

now its clear its nonsense. The pound has strengthened against the $/€ in recent months! :w00t:

This substantial increase in price is due to differences in the exchange rate between the British Pound (which has weakened in recent months) and the Euro/dollar which have remained strong.
