    xbox 360 help

My son got one for x-mas and wants to go live,he can't hard wire it as his room is miles away from computer point and he wants to go wireless.
Does he need a 360 wireless adaptor or can he just just any old dongle, we've got broadband and use the comp and laptop on it.
Does anyone know where there are good deals for an adaptor if he needs one, thanks.xx

    Wireless Network Adapter

Adaptors are usually around £45 upwards (Amazon had one for £33 but thats finished).

You can go wireless using a gaming bridge or through a laptop computer (this means the laptop would need to be switched on whenever he is playing on Xbox live). You'll probably need a bit of technical knowledge for this. Never tried this my self as I have the adaptor.

i use a homeplug which connects to your pc through the mains, like a bridge via ethernet, i think zavvi or hmv are selling thier wifi connector for £35 at the moment.

You can buy the official wireless adaptor for £45 at Game (I think it was £35 before Xmas) if you buy it with something else (you can usually pick up something less than a £1 to qualify), this may be the cheapest around at the minute. I use a 3rd party Linksys gaming adaptor (or wireless bridge as its sometimes called) and you can sometimes find them cheap, I saw a Netgear one for less than £20 in a Comet a few months ago. They are few and far between now as they are no longer needed as wireless is built into the latest consoles. Try searching online for wireless gaming adaptors or wireless bridges. They will probably say they are for the original Xbox or PS2 like mine did, but they should work fine with the 360.

I think they were £40 from Zavvi.

Just get a 20-40m ethernet cable (depending how far away it is) which will cost £3 does the job and much better speeds than wireless.
