I accidentally left mine on for 4 days when I went away for the weekend and it actually burnt out... To be fair Microsoft had replaced it within 2 days with a new one as still under guarantee but yes, my experience is - very hot!!

Guess you were quick off on the draw, i noticed that as well

I took at look at the xbox, and it seems like the heat is coming from the power supply? would this cooler thingy actually work on this?

on thinking, I suppose anything that keeps the heat down is worth ago?

You could always try using it to cook ]scrambled eggs.

I had a laugh at that :giggle:
My modem sometimes gets really warm!
And, my laptop actually blows warm air out :giggle:

Thats good, so during winter you dont even need a fan heater. You might consider getting rid of the hair dryer too

I doubt that very much, i only bought one on saturday after being without one for about 7 months as the dog chewed through the wire of the old one
But, possibly, it will keep my bills down :giggle:

I don't find the main console unit gets particularly warm, it is well ventilated though round all sides though.

Do you keep the power unit on the carpet and tucked behind something, or even next to the 360 itself? If so, that's not a good idea

The new 360s will generate much less heat thanks to more efficient processors. As the power load is also lower the supply block should also be cooler - not that it particularly helps all us early ( and first day!) adopters.

At the moment I've got it perked on my display unit with the power cable going out the back, not really an exclosed space as such, no carpets involved.

I dont know if I have a new processor, I got it about 2 weeks ago?

I go on a few xbox forums and they are rife with people who's 360's have overheated a number of time (but these are non stop gaming geeks) I've never had a problem with mine and had it since mid december.

mine froze twice last nite and i burnt my hand near the area for the power inlet. first time it crashed since i have had it for 2 weeks

Mine has crashed once while playing PGR3 online - basically froze at the end of the race. Not too bad given I've had it nearly a year now.

Edit: The only other problem I've had was occasionally NFS: Most Wanted would decide to stop playing music from my iRiver jukebox and required a system restart.
