I wasn't sure what to put in the title, well here goes...

I have just moved my xbox 360 upstairs which has the wireless dongle in the back, and I have my router downstairs connected to my pc, with me moving my xbox upstairs the signal is on the lowest bar so I will have lag on games. What can I do to make the signal near full strength again with the router still downstairs?

Please let me know what I need to do or get.

Thanks!!

I don't know about boosters. This Linksys one is suppose to be good.

How about this?

So wired connection to this from the 360 and this connects wirelessly to your network.

Same prob here. Sold the wireless adaptors and bought the plug in the wall things..... Like the previous link. Works a treat!

So do you not use the xbox wireless adaptor anymore? and juist use the ethernet cable?

I don't want to use the ethernet cable.

Yeah opted to not use the wireless adaptor and use the ethernet cable. Why would you not want to use the ethernet???

We bought these, although not high speed and paid around £80 for 4 plugs:

Dont want to use ethernet cable as I paid around £55 for the adaptor, plus less wires

I sold my wireless connector for £40, the live connection kept dropping out using wireless as the consoles were upstairs.

The only other thing you can do is to move your router upstairs to be nearer the xbox 360.

For us was worth changing as only paid £35 ish quid for the wireless adaptors, but the fact remains you are having problems......

I did move the router upstairs but I couldn't access the internet on my pc

If you buy a decent access point you can have that on top of your 360 and a wired connection from that to the 360, so not really any wires. That you'd see anyway.

End of the day try and stop thinking about what you spent. Due to circumstances you need different equipment. Due to how my house is laid out I run a CAT5 cable up into the loft and down to where the 360 was. Only way for me to get a decent connection. :whistling:

Yeah, I have a big problem with this to, A wired connection isnt practicle, but atm im running it into the back of my laptop and then to my router, sometimes have small lag issues, and hosting is a deffo no-no

Good conection can be the key to owning or noobing out, Shame really.

You shouldn't really experience lag even on one bar you will have a minimum of 6Mbps with an aggregrate through put of 3Mbps since WiFi is half-duplex and that is the lowest you can get on 802.11g. Also to cut down on interference, use one of the 3 non-overlapping channels 1, 6, or 11 enabled from your router, scan local wifi to check what others around you are using and select the channel least or not used.
