    Xbox one disc drive repair

Hey all, does anyone have any experience with either repairing or replacing the disc drive on a xbox one?

My brothers console has given up reading discs, it doesn't even attempt it, just drags disc in but no reading sounds of the disc spinning etc.

Looking online I saw you can pick up replacement disc drives for around £40 but I keep seeing also that the board on the disc drive would have to be switched over as it's tied to console, only problem with this is I don't have soldering equipment to use.

Has anyone replaced theirs before and can confirm if that's the case? Would I just be better off trying to find a professional to fix?

MS Refused to replace mine when it went after 13 months, last time I bought an Xbox game too.

However silly this may seem, there was a video on YouTube I can'd find right now that shows you a technique that works for me.

Do the following at your own risk!

Essentially, seriously, as the disc is pulled into the machine ever so slightly hold it back, then quickly let it continue.

For some reason that allows my XBone to read a disc, otherwise it just sits there.

Hope ti helps, but imagine this is only for some duff drives.

Funny enough that was my first thing to try after seeing that video on youtube. Didn't work for me unfortunately

soldering us required if you are changing the whole drive. paying a professional should only cost £60 for drive fitted. if in Dorset PM message .
