    Xbox One gaming monitor advice?

Hi, looking at getting my son a gaming monitor to minimize lag, budget £200 - £300 Max. Think I'll only get 27" for that money, and assume HD (is 4k needed?). Any recommendations? Thanks.

He's only the standard Xbox one so no 4k then? Didn't realise that, makes thing easier, thanks. So 27" full hd low input lag recommendations please!

Xbox one s doesn't do games at 4k either, only video

Well the Xbox one s can upscale games to 4K. ... It's not native 4K, but the Xbox One S can upscale games from 1080p to 4K.It means the Xbox One S will be able to offer a taste of gaming at a higher resolution than the regular Xbox one, although it won't quite be as good as native 4K.

By TV standards all monitors are low input lag because virtually all PC use is interactive. In a PC context 'normal' is 20-30ms which is the best possible you'd find on a TV in game mode, while gaming monitors are typically sub-10ms.

Consoles don't support most of the stuff on a gaming monitors like high frame rates (144hz) or variable refresh rates (Freesync), so the benefits of going for a 'gaming' monitor for a console are much smaller. I wouldn't restrict yourself to gaming monitors unless he likes the wacky styling.

What kind of games does your son like to play? If he's into high action, fast paced games such as Shooters, Fighters and Racers, he'd be better off with a low input lag/response time monitor. I don't have much experience with 27" monitors unfortunately but you can't go wrong with the higher end BenQ and ASUS monitors. I personally use the BenQ RL2455HM and it's an incredible monitor, and only cost me £150, and it's only £133 now. Another user can probably point you in the right direction of a decent 27" monitor but if 24" is ok with you it's the best monitor I've owned. I'll leave the link here for you if you're interested.

BenQ RL2455HM is probably the best monitor for console gaming. If you know anyone with Amazon Student account, they can take advantage of the 20% off warehouse deals right now (until 11 Nov). I managed to grab one of those monitors from Amazon for £79.

I would wait for black friday prices are a little inflated now to make black friday deals look good.
