Xp not working

I was installing a fresh version of xp on my laptop but the installation stopped half way saying some files are missing. I've tried to continue with the set up but same error shows.

I've tried another so disk and it say please insert xp service pack 3 disk as it's trying to contiue with the set up..

How can I stop the current set up and use the other disk.

Please help

I have already restarted laptop and got bios set to install from cd but it keeps trying to continue with the last set up.

How do I format hd manually

get HD manufacturers install disk off web, that'll reformat and repartition the drive.
Or create a boot disk and run command.com to format.

It wont continue to boot to xp if you keep pressing a key on keyboard and get the pc to boot from CD/DVD drive first.
Sound like you are letting it boot to the Hard drive dude.
Restart pc and press any key on keyboard continually with windows disk in drive, this will boot windows disk and allow you to reinstall

I've just tried pressing the key while it restarts and it still continues.

It gives me the option to run windows or continue with set. If I select window if fails to load as dll file is missing and same error when I try to contiue with set up.

Easiest way is to go into bios and check the make/size of your HDD, or just open the HDD cover on base of lappy and get all the info off it (photo even)
once you know hdd manufacturer and model. search web or if your still stuck post details and i'll see what i can do.

Thanks for ur help

forget about service packs , there not needed at first till you get xp up and running . Early disks didn't have SP1 or SP2 ,these can be available separately . Newer disks have them intergrated .Your's must be slightly old as nowadays you dont get XP disks supplied .
