    Yet more laptop advice

Having done a bit more poking around, I am now looking at one of the two following laptops that my daughter can buy (with a little help from parents). The one absolute requirement is that it will play Sims3. She's not bothered with any other serious gaming so hopefully either of these will suffice.

the question, based on the specs, is which would be best for the price?

Lenovo G550 -£369 at laptops direct
Processor - Intel Pentium Dual Core T4400 - 2.2 GHz
    RAM - 3 GB
    Hard Drive - 250 GB

    Graphics - Intel GMA 4500M

    ASUS X5EAE-SX047V - £379 at laptops direct

I'd take the Asus for £10 more, slightly bigger Hard Drive....and it looks nicer

Both good makes and well built.

I have the same T4400 cpu in my Samsung as what's in the Lenovo and it runs Sims3 easily if that helps.

ddr 2 ddr3 that makes a difference if the same then the asus as they graphics chip is much better

Looks like Lenovo is DDR3 and Asus DDRII

Means nothing to me (sounds like a cue for a song!).

ddr 3 is better so with that in mind you have a close call faster apps or better frames you're choice if its more for gaming asus if its more internet then lenovo IMO

The one with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. Steer clear of Intel GPUs. Even saying that, Sims3 isn't exactly the most simple game for a card to run. A HD4200 may even struggle.

I suggest you look for a laptop with a better graphics card just to be on the safe side.

    Take a look here
I would advise you get a laptop that has a card that is green in all three boxes for the Sims 3 (go along the game boxes, tick the Sims 3 and then hit the restrict button).

    For example:
    ebuyer.com/pro…196 - which uses an ATi HD4570 and runs The Sims 3 on settings low:183, med:46, high:32.
