    YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How smart is Your Right Foot ?

Just try this. It is from an orthopedic surgeon............ This will boggle your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't. It's pre-programmed in your brain!

    1. While sitting where you are at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

    2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right Hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again, if you've not already done so.

i did it! but then im disabled and i got someone to move my foot lol

    I did it ok!

    Very good :w00t:

i tried to outsmart it by reversing how you draw a number 6 seems to work

oh wierd.... trick of the day in the office tomorrow

i thought i did it, but found out i was rotating my foot anti-clockwise! lol

I tried it....................you owe me a laptop!

Not entirely convinced by this, you kind of need to do it without thinking and the immediate reaction is to at least stop your foot moving...however as long as are aware of your foot rotating then it seems reasonably easy to draw a six. I do realise the reasoning for this however I don't think the behaviour cannot be over-ridden.

heehee heehee oh i look so foolish... must go get someone else to try :-D

    OMG :w00t:

    How weird is that?!

You can do stuff without thinking? :w00t:

I outsmarted my foot!!!!! But I was concentrating hard. It did twitch but was definately still turning clockwise after.

hehe just tried on OH, we both burst out laffing.

another 1 is to rotate your right foot clockwise then rotate your right hand anti clockwise and your foot changes to anti clockwise as well

i had no trouble doing it.

Arghhhhhh this is driving me mad!!!!!!!!

Another cool one is to hold both index fingers in front of you and rotate them both in either a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. Start off slow and get faster, eventually they will end up both rotating in opposite directions.

As I understand it, it is to do with the way our brains are wired. The brain coordinates the two halves of our body in a symetrical way, so to try and rotate your right hand and right foot in opposite directions is hard, but to rotate your right hand and left foot in opposite directions is easy (as is any 'mirrored action').

However, all these things can be learnt to do through practice, which in turn rewires the brain to allow you to carry out these movements (IIRC some martial arts have this as part of their training), so never fear, you can outsmart your right foot.

Rotating left foot CW can do left hand CW
Rotating left foort CW cannot do left hand CCW

The same (opposite) for the right hand and foot.

However opposite Feet / Hand is no problem.

    Is it lunchtime yet?

Yes, If you coordinate the 2 movements. it's quite feasible.

Seems like a reasonable explanation night swimmer, if we take 'rewires' to mean 'establishes new physical and chemical neural interactions'. Just thought you might like that!! I could go on if you like?:-D

LOL, that was exactly what I meant!

    Please do.

    Might cause headaches all round!:)
But I do find the brain very interesting. It is a strange combination of 'hard wiring' due to its actual structure and its range of neurotransmitters - a result of evolution - and almost infinite flexibilty due to the combinations of transmitters and the ability to break, relink and create new nerve interconnections. This results in parts controlling basic life processes like breathing or the life-time control of development due to hormones and other parts becoming able to empathasise with others, or love. Our brain maturation is, as everything else, dependent upon basic genetic capability but we create our own world view - literally - in response to our environments.
One result - we can fascinate ourselves with optical illusions, or the level of control we have over motor functions and laugh.
    Stopping now!!

No problem whats up with ya. Mind you am always getting told I have 2 LEFT feet

    wow!

I demand video evidence of everyone who says they can do it!

    lol

    cool, nice one.
