    Your Ideal Phone

Hey Guys Tell me what your ideal phone would be if you could mix match other phones and everything to me having the highest spec is not everything would prefer something that does the job and preserves battery!

    Design
would have to go with the moto x, out of all phones this phone just feels great in the hand 4.7 inch screen is perfect for 1 handed use! I would have this phone and have some sort of wood back or denim - have replaceable ones! (LOVE MOTO MAKER HOWEVER NOT AVAILABLE IN UK)

    Screen
Would be amoled samsung, im not a fan of samsung however amoled screen are so vibrant and colorful, would have this paired with edge to edge which lg do really well at on lg g3/2

    Specs?
snapdragon 401, its not the fastest however does the tasks and preserves battery and will make phone cheaper!
    Ram 2gb
    best gpu ect
battery realisticly 2500mah, to keep it slim

Camera samsung note 3 camera again samsungs camera are very good, this or sony 20.7mp

No sd card slot however have a 128gb or 64gb available for ok price!

In conclusion I hate the fact everyone are bringing out 5+ inch phones its a shame, the new moto x is rumoured 5.2:/

    na find waterproof a gimmick,

I never need or get my phone wet, i use it in the bath and its fine, also being waterproo makes the screen less responsive and also have to cover ports also adds cost to phone

My comment wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. Way to ruin a joke

If I can take a moment to be serious now though; I think 3gb of RAM would be more beneficial along with a faster processor. That is only my opinion of course.

So you want a snapdragon processor and smaller battery to cut down on costs but then would prefer 64gb/128gb internal storage models instead of a micro sd slot?

realisticly, it would be cheaper for companies to have 64gb built in then paying money for sd card slot, because they will charge a reasonable £20, which we know we can buy them for £25+ but they make the sd cards or buy 100000000000000, they just like making money of it, however some companies are do different, oneplus one charging $50 for 64gb

One that makes phone calls and I can hear the person on the other one and they can hear me

One that can make and receive calls and texts.

    That's my ideal phone.

Bring back feature bar handsets like SE T700/SE K800i/SE W995/Nokia 6500 Classic. Not everyone wants overpowered gigantic smartphones. A simple feature handset will suffice.

Basically I want my old Sony Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) with a 3.5 - 4.0" screen, faster processor, more ram etc and most importantly dual SIM capability.

I think that the Xperia Mini Pro was the pinnacle of phone design, when it comes to price/functionality/usability. Other than speed and screen quality, there is literally nothing that I really like about the latest high end phones available today.

How can a 64GB of nand flash cost the same as a 50 cent micro SD reader? While they do rip you off with the higher storage they high speed nand is considerably more expensive than an equivalent micro SD of the same capacity.

My other half has the Xperia Pro (the big brother phone of the one you posted). I think it's fantastic, it makes the mini pro which I've also used seem awful by comparison, despite them sharing pretty much all the hardware, I think that the screen size make's it just that bit more usable. It's a shame the only smartphone that's not a blackberry in 2014 that has a full qwerty keyboard is actually from 2013 and not very well specified. Physical keyboards need to make a comeback as for anyone that texts, emails, facebooks or any serious heavy use of text based communication can do so much more with a physical keyboard. You just can't text as easy with a touch screen.

Xperia Pro beside an Xperia Mini Pro

For me my ideal phone would be hardware from the Nexus 5 or similar with a full slide out qwerty keyboard (landscape), an optical track pad (as seen on the HTC Desire Z) and finally a larger capacity battery to actually last a full day every day and not just when I've not used the phone much.

I miss the amazing robustness of my old Treo 650, Nokia E71, Nokia N97. True typist phones for people who cared about sending a message and it make sense as there was no autocorrect trying to decide what it thinks you want to say.

Right so no matter what they do you wouldn't buy one. Sounds to me like you're biased against the brand more than anything and pick out issues with them where there really are none.

All your answers just scream "Anything but Apple"

I am writing this comment with my ipad mini, it cost 180 new from amazon , and has a great battery life and is a great tablet. How can apple justify 500 for an under performing phone, it makes no sense to me.

alot of it is the technology of cramming in the same specs into the iphone but other then that yes it is a bit silly, basically paying £300 to call and text on it

in what way is it under performing. Is it because it is lacking a 2k screen (which is almost identical in the eyes of most users to the retina display). Or is it because it is lacking the snapdragon 805 processors in current gen android phones (when the current generation of android phones still lag more than any iPhone).

Thats a cool cat, iPhone5 under performs on battery life and screen size and cost. Also the fingerprint scanner is a bit gimmicky imo.

    agreed about the cat.

the iPhone is also the slimmest phone on the market and the trade off with that is reduced battery life, although most people will get a days normal use out of it.

As for the screen size, most other manufacturers are forgetting they are designing mobile phones. A 5.5inch screen is just ridiculous. Admittedly, 4 inch is a bit small for most these days, but it is something Apple will update in the coming generation iPhone. It comes down to personal preference at the end of the day.

I too thought that about the touchID when apple announced the iPhone 5S, but it is something I now cant live without. It is far quicker/easer/more convenient than entering a password and of course, it's pretty much fool proof.

Unfortunately, there are some updates/innovation the iPhone 6 should get but wont because gone are the days of Steve Jobs. I would still disagree with anyone that says the iPhone is massively overpriced though.

I'm generally pleased with the Z Ultra, would prefer it was slightly smaller (6in rather than 6.4in perhaps) with the camera module and flash from the Z2. I'd also prefer to lose the weather sealing in exchange for a removable battery.
