Your opinions wanted please - classic car hire

    Hi Anyone/Everyone,
I am contemplating starting a classic/retro car hire business, and just wanted to gauge some public opinion on a few issues.

    1. What would be your top 5 cars that you would like to drive/hire from the 70s and 80s
    2. Do you think there is a market for cars from the 80s, or should I stick to the classics.
    3. Do you know anyone who I could talk to regarding such a business?

I am aiming the business at the 30/40 somethings, and am based in Leeds,West Yorkshire.

Any feedback would be great, good or bad!

    Thanks for your time.

    Paul

    Capri 2.8i

compared to the football thread i know little about this

    but.......

i really think the 80's car hire wouldnt work too well
i hate to deliver bad news - but think about it

ok lets take a random car such as a capri

you have 2 options - 1 buy the car or 2 rent it

now if you are renting it - your business already exists- your customer already has a place to go get the car from - and it would be cheaper than you

if you buy - this has loads of pitfalls

1 - initial outlay - its expensive to get a good car - but not only do you need to get a good car - you need to make sure the interior is spotless - so this will cost
2 - you cant just have 1 car - you need a fleet - if the customer doesnt want a capri - there not hiring one - so multiply the above by how many cars you want - its going to be a lot - if a wife to be wants a certain car and you dont have it - its a lost customer

ok lets take the capri agiain as a example (cause its a good one!)
very little space in the back - maybe 2 small people in the back - 1 in the front

who is wanting to hire this? where would you want to arrive in a capri - with 2 other people (bear in mind you or a employee would be driving - as you wouldnt want your customers drinking)..........if 3 people are going out - they would take a taxi - you cannot and will not get people hiring a capri to get dropped off at the local 80s night

im sorry - but it just isnt feasable

Whats the car in back to the future? It never rusts does it?

But from the 80s it'd have to be a ferrari, for me growing up they were the top top sports car out there. May not be up at the top today but they were back then.

You'd do better getting a car of the star and hiring that out I think...

I think the only way an 80s car would be appreciated is if people recognised it from somewhere, e.g. a Ford Cortina because of Life on Mars...

P.S. If anyone wants to bring a classic car up to "Fleetwood Transport Festival" (also known as Tram Sunday) near Blackpool on Sunday 15th July then let me know lol.

    De'Lorean.
A Pontiac Transam would be a good 80's car (if there is such a thing) Has to be in black though
As for classic cars, The old MK II Jaguar has to be my favourite- that'd be a beautiful wedding car too.
