Your unsung heroes of evey day life and jobs? (or my praise for school crossing patrols)

A friend of ours has done this job for about 3 years now come rain or shine, so in winter they get freezing cold or soaked wet and in summer as they have to wear the yellow jacket over hot and heat fatigue.

Every week she has 3/4 close calls with traffic disregarding her, buses have stopped for her only to have the car behind over take and nearly clip her and the kids she is crossing, cars have even blatantly swerved round her to avoid stopping, and its getting worse.

So next time one helps you and/or your kids reach the other side of the road safely, just give them a thanks please, they are literally putting their lives on the line for you and your kids!

That one little word does mean a lot!

Max O. you are our unsung hero!

Even more so the ones who had to do the bin bags before wheely bins came around,

Mind you I have witnessed car drivers venting their anger at these guys because they are blocking the road in the course of their week and when cars are double parked its not like they can do anything else.

The recycling van operatives though are a different kettle of fish, guaranteed after they have been to find smashed glass on the road and cans just dropped and forgotten

Does that include those who run freecycle groups? LOL

Seriously I don't do it for the thanks, but my way of repaying the community as I am unable to work for health reasons.
