Yes they are in administration, if they are open they should accept giftcards.

Yes. I tried to use my gift card and they didn't accept it. I called the help line and heard the recorded message saying that we have sent a claim attaching the gift card to some address in Manchester.

I guess the administrator has told them to take cash and CC's only, there's a note saying they won't take cheques any more either. . .

shameful behaviour to have been taking money for gift cards and not honour them at christmas-not the staffs fault but the administrators are out of order here-the money for these is already in the business-should be honoured!

I think its part of the rules of administration isn't it?
Something to do with gift card holders are now creditors, and mustn't be given preference over any other creditor.
Wrong in my view, but if its correct you can't blame the administrators either.

I have a Zavvi gift card/vouchers, can I redeem it?
It is expected that all customers who purchased zavvi gift cards/vouchers from zavvi stores from 27 November 2008 will receive a full refund in respect of the unredeemed value of the gift card/vouchers. Unfortunately, it is not possible for gift cards/vouchers to be redeemed in stores.

All customers who have unredeemed gift card/vouchers acquired since 27 November 2008 should write to the Joint Administrators at the following address, quoting their gift cad/voucher number(s), enclosing the original gift card/voucher(s) and quoting their full name and address for return correspondence:

    zavvi Vouchers
c/o The Joint Administrators of zavvi Group
    Ernst & Young LLP
    100 Barbirolli Square
    Manchester
    M2 3EY

We recommend that customers keep a copy of gift card/vouchers for their records.

Regrettably, it will not be possible to refund gift cards/vouchers acquired prior to 27 November 2008. Customers with unredeemed gift card/vouchers acquired prior to 27 November 2008 should write to the Joint Administrators at the above address, asking for their claim to be registered as an unsecured claim.

Please note, due to the large volumes of gift card/vouchers that are currently outstanding it is not possible to discuss individual customer queries in person at this stage.

we went to our store today and they stated on all posters, gift cards non redeemable, and strictly no refunds... its disgusting.

if you have voucher just take something worth the same as your voucher and leave your voucher in the shop and walk out with the goods. If the alarm goes off just keep walking

It is if you steal encyclopedias. :whistling:

Zavvi haven't stolen money from the owners of the vouchers have they though ? actually probably no, they committed fraud

    Websters defines Fraud as

Main Entry: fraud Pronunciation: \ˈfrȯd\ Function: noun Etymology: M … Main Entry: fraud Pronunciation: \ˈfrȯd\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English fraude, from Anglo-French, from Latin fraud-, fraus Date: 14th century 1 a: deceit , trickery ; specifically : intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right b: an act of deceiving or misrepresenting : trick2 a: a person who is not what he or she pretends to be : impostor ; also : one who defrauds : cheat b: one that is not what it seems or is represented to be

    BTW
I really do not condone leaving the voucher and walking out of the store with something the same value as the voucher as the voucher is worth ****Hall.

Also you will be prosecuted when caught.

    It was a joke response/reply.

If you have bought your gift card fro Somerfield they are refunding the vouchers in full themselves (just saw a memo posted in our store about this.)
