Zoo Keeper Experience @ Paradise Wildlife Park Hertfordshire

My 'shadow a zoo keeper' for the day experience is coming up shortly, at the paradise wildlife park in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.

Has anyone ever done the experience or been to the wildlife park ?

If so, any recommendations, tips, do's or dont's etc etc..........

I'm really looking forward to it (quite sad for a 28yr old male) !!!!

We touched and fed stingray in Florida, was really weird the way they suck the shrimp out of your fingers and the smooth texture of them......but very cool !!

or do a 3 stooges routine with the penguins... they're well funny.

My friend did her school work experience in Monkey World. I am still jealous ten years later.

My advice is watch out for the emus - I adore them but they're a little over enthusiastic at paradise

Went on saturday, had a fantastic time and would recommend the experience to anyone.

The paradise wildlife park was great, very clean, lovely grounds and gardens, the staff and keepers were very friendly and knowledgable about all the animals.

First part of the morning was cleaning out and feeding the emu's, camels, tapirs, reindeers, zebras, capybara, hog deer, wallabies...

Then fed and visited the monkeys, racoons, farmyard animals and fed the penguins.

After lunch we visited the reptile house and all the behind the scenes stuff, ie food prep, vets house etc...

I could go on all day about certain aspects but you will have to go yourselves to appreciate the experience.

Main highlight was holding and showing to the public a 20ft Python :w00t: :w00t:, took 3 of us to hold the snake and it weighed a ton.... !!!! I have never held a snake in my life so i thought i might as well do it properly !

Lunch was included and i even came home with a certificate and t-shirt.... :-D
