I think the problem with that search is too many things expired aren't marked as such. So you end up getting old stuff that was hot showing up top.

But the idea is sound.

On that note (separate thread needed) would it be better to have a 30 day expiry by default especially in groceries for eg as most store offers only last for 1-3 weeks. I posted a deal for rump steak and as I had seen an advert I knew when the expiry date was, and put it in. But if someone just saw it on the shelf they would have to leave it blank, and thus the deal would still be active 6 months later, unless someone expired

How do you display the "top 5 day / week / month / all" on the RHS? If we had access to that but could put 50 instead of 5 that would be something

In advance search you can choose max and min temps (but you DO NOT need to put in a keyword so you DO see all the deals)

What practical use is being able to search by temperature anyway?

Actually there are a couple of things I can think of that you could use it for but they would IMHO constitute abuse. Is satisfying people's mindless curiosity worth the abuse potential?

For example you could type in ps3 and sort Hot > Cold and see every deal in the order that HUKD'ers voted. Seems a bit bizarre that we have collectively voted on hundreds of PS3 bundles but I would be struggling to think of a seach which would quickly establish the best 5 deals, current or otherwise (other than sticking a min value such as 1000 but you might miss a cracking deal (to you personally) at 890 for eg)

What's the abuse potential? Cold voting every hot deal? I would like to see these offenders identified and banned, should be simple enough

No, cold voting every hot deal would just be mindless trolling, the abuse I'm thinking of is much worse, believe it or not it involves voting hot!

In ways that twist things to your advantage. I won't go into details here as I don't want to give people ideas!

Mods, in the unlikely event that this exploit doesn't sound familiar, PM me I will explain all.
