hotukdeals.com/ite…ew/
I am also in firefox

my ie7 does not go to argos links.
i think its because the links go via commissionjunction and is blocked by the firewall .
somebody will know exactly why.
the same happens with tradedoubler links.

This has been happening to me with Argos for about 8 weeks. The same with one other company but I cannot remember which.

Well I'm on Firefox/2.0.0.11 and it works fine this end

This site is added by "Spybot Search and Destroy" to the "hosts" file and may be your issue. I'd go to Argos manually.

But if you REALLY want to access the site:

Open the hosts. file (in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc or your equilivent) after removing the "read-only" attribute. Then put a "#" in front of the entry for www.kqzyfj.com and kqzyfj.com (after disabling Spybot) you should be ok. I wouldn't!

I don't use Spybot though.

It's the Christmas period! Argos site says it is busy during the day when huge numbers of people are trying to get on the site. I always try to get on before 9 am. It has nothing to do with what browser you are using, so do not change anything on your PC. The Argos site will go back to normal once the sales are over. Anyway, try early morning or late night until then.

Rubbish:

It has everything to do with the browser/spybot settings.

As I said earlier it has I can access it with IE but not Firefox. I'm going to check the settings and see what needs changing.

I have edited my host files in search and destroy and I can now access the argos links

I use Firefox, IE7, Avant and Maxthon Browsers to check sites I created. Each of them began to struggle with Argos a few weeks ago, but only during busy periods. No problem early morning or late at night. It is Argos' Site not the browsers or settings.

well the question would be now why are we being directed through a site that is presumably unsafe to use ??? as they could be mining our credit card details etc..... ??? or is this not an issue

i dont think so...there is enough anecdotal evidence in this thread already to suggest there is more of a technical issue with the links for certain members using certain config/browser

The Argos link goes through an affiliate network (that's how HUKD is funded instead of banners etc) so it looks like the same ad-blocking software that would block the banner is blocking the links.

Read my above post and see how I fixed it by changing settings. :whistling:

It was a problem with my host file blocking the hotukdeals redirection NOT a problem with argos timing out as you seem to think.

Think about it, If it was Argos timing out then why would I be able to connect with IE and not Firefox.
